Arava - Hedai Ofaimme

"Arava" is not a cookbook just as it is not a geography book. This book was Hedai Ofaimme's attempt to cook his meals from the spiritual and physical, natural and human landscape of the Arava region, which has held a spell over him all his life. His meals do not start in the kitchen and do not end on the plate, he collects what his eyes and heart registered and place food on the table, a little closer to the lovers of this desert and next to its poets and their plows. The book was concocted by Hedai Ofaimme, photographer Alex Liebek (winner of the Israel Prize), photographer Dan Peretz and food stylist Nurit Karib. They all arrived early one morning in the Arava, with their tripods and  her bowls, and meal after meal they painted with light and material the different dishes, until the work was complete.
